About Yegua by Flopi

Yegua by Flopi began with a single pair of boots, made not for a collection, but for love.

I designed my first boots for my wedding. I wanted to wear shoes that could carry a story, not just adorn a body. Shoes that spoke of devotion, commitment, and the quiet courage of choosing one another. I painted a silk twill by hand, wrote our wedding date into the fabric, and infused the painting with wishes for a life full of love, growth, and shared becoming. Those boots held our story. Lucas’ and mine.

That impulse extended far beyond my feet. For our wedding, I painted my third-party dress, all the tablecloths, and created paintings and symbols that filled the space. Every surface became a vessel for intention. To me, it felt essential that the materials surrounding such a meaningful day were alive with care, presence, and purpose.

The boots, unexpectedly, became the heart of it all. People were mesmerized by them. I was too. What began as a deeply personal gesture revealed itself as something larger, something that wanted to walk beyond that day. I decided to turn the boots into a project. One hundred pairs. One hundred fragments of a living artwork.

Shortly after, I held my first solo exhibition in New York City. The show functioned both as an exhibition and a residency, centered around the theme of fear. I asked the public a simple question: Why are we so afraid? Why are we afraid of color? Of vulnerability? Of showing ourselves honestly and fully? That question became the conceptual ground for the boots. It was there that I began painting the two hundred yards of fabric needed to create the first one hundred pairs.

I am still painting.

So far, eighteen pairs of Yegua boots exist in the world. Ten of them have already been acquired. Each pair is one of a kind. Each carries a fragment of a larger painting, infused with meaning, energy, and love.

They are not just shoes. They are artworks. Collectibles. Objects made to be lived in.

Yegua boots are an invitation. To walk through the world visibly. To take up space in color. To inspire others simply by being yourself, fully and unapologetically. To wear your inner truth on the outside, and let it move you forward.
